Itinerary - Leaving from Palermo
Day 1: Palermo Saturday
Arrival at Palermo airport. Self transfer to the hotel and meeting
with tour escort for the general information about the "
Lands of sicily " tour. Welcome cokctail at the hotel, dinner
and overnight.
Day 2: Cefalù Piazza -
Armerina Sunday
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer by bus to Cefalù and visit
of the Norman Dome, rich of byzantine mosaics. In the afternoon
we will continue to Piazza Armerina, in the heart of Sicily,
where we will visit "Villa Romana del Casale", famous
for its fantastics mosaics. In the late afternoon we will reach
the jonic cost of Sicily. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel.
Day 3: Siracusa - Catania Monday
Breakfast at hotel. In the morning excursion to Siracusa, the
most beautiful Greek colony of Sicily, in particular we will
visit the famous "Fontana Aretusa", and the archaeological
area with its marvellous theatre and"Orecchio di Dionisio".
In the afternoon the tour will go on with the visit of Catania,
the town known for its original baroque style and for its streets
built with black lava stone the from mount Etna. In the evening
return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Etna Taormina Tuesday
Breakfast at the hotel; morning dedicated to fantastic excursion
to the Etna mountine, the highest active volcano in Europe. Across
fascinating landscape, we will reach the height of 2000 metres,
from where we will enjoy a fantastic panorama of the Ionic Sea.
In the afternoon free time in Taormina, the small medieval village
called "the pearl of the Ionic Sea", famous for its
typical small streets and its fascinating Greek theatre. In the
late afternoon return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Caltagirone Agrigento
Wednesday
Breakfast at the hotel; in the morning we will visit Caltagirone,
known in the world for the production of its ceramics. We where
it will be possible to buy a lot of beautiful hand made products.
Further more we will visit the famous ceramic museum, where we
will discover the secrets of this ancient art from its birth
to nowadays; in the afternoon the tour will continue with the
visit of Agrigento and its wonderful "Valle dei Templi":
Concordia Temple, Ercules Temple, Giunone Temple and Castore
and Poluce Temples which represent the most beautiful examples
of the Greek Civilization in Sicily. Accommodation in hotel,
dinner and overnight.in an ancient theatre. After dinner it will
be possible to enjoy a folk show with popular songs and story
tellers in an ancient theatre.
Day 6: Selinunte - Erice Thursday
Breakfast at the Hotel. The all day will be dedicated to the
visit of the beautiful area of Trapani, with its vineyards famous
all around the world; first we will visit the archeological park
of Selinunte, The largest Mediterranea area. In the afternoon
we will continue with the visit of the fascinating Erice, a small
medieval village with ancient Greek origin, situated on a little
hill, where it will be possible to enjoy a fantastic view on
the Egadi Islands and have a nice taste of its typical almonds
biscuits. In the late afternoon we will continue to Palermo;
accommodation in hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Palermo Friday
Breakfast at the hotel; the whole day will be dedicated to the
visit of Palermo, one of the Capital of most rich town in Sicily
for history and art. In particular we will visit the Cathedral,
"St. Giovanni degli Eremiti Church,, « Palazzo dei
Normanni »,the "Palatin Chapel"; we will continue
to Monreale to admire the splendid Cathedral with its splendid
12th century mosaics, and the cloister of the Benedectine monastery
with Moorish and Norman architecture. In the afternoon optional
excursion to: "Santuario di Santa Rosalia" on the Pellegrino
Mount, the "Catacombe", the beautiful Martonara church
and nice walk through the narrow streets of Vucciria, Palermo's
main and old market.
Day 8: Palermo Saturday
Breakfast at Hotel. End our services.
